On the afternoon September 12, 2014, School of Economics and Management had the Welcome Party for 2014 recruits at Tianyou Hall. Xu Shoubo, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Yuan Lunqu, a counselor of State Council, Zhao Jian and Li Wenxing, representatives of Ph.D. supervisors, and all school leaders, attended the conference, as well as some graduate student tutors, all undergraduates, undergraduate instructors, class advisors and 1200-odd Ph.D and master candidates and new undergraduate recruits in 2014. The conference was presided over by Associate Dean Zhang Li.

 

School Party Secretary Zhang Mingyu delivered a speech on behalf of the school. He expressed the heartfelt congratulations and warm welcome to the new recruits into School of Economics and Management, who have spent so many years in having persevered in studies through hardships with the outstanding performances and scores. He also gave a brief introduction of the development course and development situation of the school and also expressed the ardent expectations for the newly recruited students in 2014, including 110 Ph.D candidates, 737 master students and 361 undergraduates. He also hoped that the students will establish their lofty ideals and aspirations and strictly discipline themselves and try to learn efficiently, think ingeniously and live independently to get started for their university life with strong passion and brighter dreams.
 

Academician Xu Shoubo gave a wonderful speech to all teachers and students, briefly introducing his own life course with the arduous study and abundant research results for the motherland in the hope that the students can take their initiative to shoulder the historical mission and the responsibilities and make their greater contributions to the national socio-economic development and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Each student and each teacher attending the meeting was deeply touched by the academicianos sincere words and earnest wishes.

 

Geng Guanyu, chairman of Graduate Students Union of School of Economics and Management, made a short speech on behalf of all other students, expressing the warm welcome to all new recruits and also giving them the constructive suggestions to them related to the studies, research and campus life, etc. Yue Feng and An Xingyu, representatives of 2014 new recruits made speeches in return for the warm congratulations and welcome from the school leaders and senior students, expressing their hopes for the happier campus life and their blessing for the faster development of the school.
