The autumn sky is clear with the fresh and crisp air, adding radiance and beauty to the verdant and golden farmland and mountains. As Beijing Jiaotong University ushered in its 118th founding anniversary and the 50th, 30th, 20th and 10th graduation anniversary for the graduates in Grade 64, 84, 94 and 04, School of Economics and Management commenced the visiting schoolfellow celebration on September 30, 2014. Yet, this year is the first time to witness the get-together of junior college graduates, undergraduates, masters and Ph.ds, and 600-odd schoolfellows gathered at Red Apple Garden for a jubilant celebration and the recollection of their friendship and good previous memory.
Dean Zhang Qiusheng, Associate Dean Cui Yongmei and Associate Dean Shi Xianliang from School of Economics and Management and working staff and all class advisors and other teachers from the Alumni Office, Youth League Committee, Graduate Work Group, School Administrative Office, Employment Guide Center, etc., gave the warm welcome to each returning schoolfellow at the South Gate Little Forest Garden Check-in and shared the amicable talk. The working staff and the schoolfellow service volunteers has the uniform dress with big smiles to give the warm welcome to the returning schoolfellows who mutually greeted each other with a warm hug, standing in front of the display boards of the group photos of the graduates in the three different grades and signing autographs, full of excitement and strong emotions for the gathering and the deep thoughts for the past. So the check-in was brimming with the warmth and excitement.
After the undergraduates signed in, they attended the celebration and the junior college graduates, masters and Ph.ds went to East Siyuan Building to participate in their respective class seminars. The old teachers and schoolfellows gathered together happily, sharing the yearning for each other in the past years and their feelings of nostalgia for their campus days.
Later, the schoolfellows in the four separate grades got together at Tianyou Hall in celebration of the Get-together of previous graduates at the school. This gathering celebration was under the theme pRecollection- Get-together- Inheritanceq in three separate episodes, respective pAlumniq, pTeachersq and pSchoolq. At the celebration, the videos flashed back the photos of the previous schoolfellows, the best wishes from teachers and the emotional moments one after another. At the same time, the school invited the teachers shown in the videos to come to the site of the celebration to meet the schoolfellows. pGradates of BJTU Generation IIq presented bouquets to the teachers who showed the genuinely happy smiles and great impression, which proved that the spirit of BJTU was carried forward from generation to generation. 42 schoolfellows attended the liaison appointment ceremony and undertook that they would work from then onwards to establish the normal communication with the school and contribute whatever they could to the effective communication between the school and the alumni.
At last, all alumni, teachers, working staff and volunteers enjoyed the featured lunch at the canteen on the second floor of Students Activity Center, recalling the old times of their youth and the good old days when they waited in line for lunch.
This celebration for get-together of graduates came to an end against the cheerful atmosphere of excitement and strong emotion. Plum blossoms everywhere, so BJTU has its graduates scattered in the world and they will cherish and carry forward the spirit of BJTU. This activity represents the recollection of the previous youthful years and the happy get-together and happiness of many yearso separation and will initiate the brighter new chapters for the better cooperation and communication between the schoolfellows and their Alma Mater and the school.
