On October 21, 2014, Prof. Olli-Pekka Hilmola from Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) gave an Academic Lecture entitled "How to publish scientific papers" to teachers and postgraduates of School of Economics and Management at the invitation of Economics College. The lecture was presided over by Li Weidong, associate professor and associate dean of Economics College. There were 20-odd teachers, Ph.D candidates and master candidates attending this academic report.
Prof. Olli-Pekka Hilmola is currently a editorial member of many international journals with the abundant academic achievements, having published 100-odd academic papers thus far. He, first of all, analyzed the relation between the award-winning years of the Nobel laureates and the years when they published their papers, sharing his own understanding and experience for publishing papers, particularly making the detailed explanation as to how to prepare and contribute the academic papers and how to effectively communicate with the editors, and many other details in this respect, encouraged the students to write more papers for publication and called their attention to the detailed instructions on contributing the research papers.
The students showed great interest in the lecture given by Prof. Olli-Pekka Hilmola for the warm discussion and exchange of ideas, particularly as to how to deal with the detailed problems in preparing the academic paper. After the lecture, Liu Dejiang, the associate professor and many students raised their questions and different views of points. Prof. Olli-Pekka Hilmola carefully answered their questions and enthusiastically exchanged ides with them, highly praising the studentso initiatives in the academic thinking. At last the lecture came to an end in a relaxing and jovial atmosphere.
