On the afternoon of December 18, Prof. Zhou Chen from Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of Georgia Institute of Technology gave his special lecture entitled pSupply Chain and Logistics Research Frontierq at RM. 302, East Siyuan Building in Management Engineering College. Prof. Zhang Juliang and Prof. Ru Yihong were present at the lecture.
Prof. Zhou Chen mainly focused on the frontier field of the supply chain and the logistics research as well as the features of the supply chain and logistics research in the US universities (including the education features of the master and Ph.d candidates).
Prof. Zhou Chenpresented the lecture to the teachers and students in the simplistic but humorous remarks about the hot topics related to the current supply chain and the logistics filed, including the development trends of the supply chain and the logistics, Multi-channel marketing system and Data Driven Application System, etc. By comparing the advantages and shortcomings of the supply chains resources in different countries, he pointed out that the research of this field would be oriented towards the refined and diversified development. At the same time, Prof. Zhou Chen enumerated the various methods for preparing the research papers in this field, pointing out and suggesting to the students that they should be ingenious at the creative thinking, bold enough in making attempts and imagination; on the contrary, they should not lower their requirements with a view to coping with the current problems. At last, Prof. Zhou Chen explained specifically the setting of the supply chain and logistics curriculum or courses in the US universities and had the full exchange and communication with teachers of our college, who reached the consensus about the profound education cooperation between the two universities in the near future.
The students attending Prof. Zhou Chenos lecture gave the warm and positive response and they fully discussed the problems drawing their attention and interest related to their research fields.
