In order to promote the development of management science and engineering discipline, doctorial tutor and head of department of management science and engineering of School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University professor Chen Jian to delivered an academic lecture titled pThe Role of Discount Vouchers in Market with Customer Valuation Uncertaintyq in room 611 at 16:00 PM, January 19, 2015, upon the invitation of BJTU School of Management Engineering. This lecture was hosted by vice president of BJTU School of Economics and Management, involving over 60 teachers and graduate students, including Zhang Juliang, Zhang Runtong, Li Yisong, Gou Juanqiong, Lan Hongjie, Zhou Jianqin, Hua Guowei, Lu Xiaochun,Yao Lijie and Zhang Jinxin . 
 

Professor Chen identified an issue of pricing of experiential product coupon and service capability distribution based on uncertain consumer preference and uncertain consumption status in light of the group purchase phenomenon that emerged and grew rapidly in recent years. At the same time, Professor Chen arrived at some new conclusions after a study of this issue from the perspectives of operation management and effect of online promotion, providing suggestions concerning the payment method involving refunding in the context of maximization of social welfare. Professor Chenos lecture identified a management issue and brought forward a profound management theory by exemplifying the group purchase phenomenon. It illustrated the research paradigm with which management science identifies, analyzes and resolves problems, inspiring the audience greatly. In the following Q&A session, the audience talked to Professor Chen Jian about related issues.

Professor Chen Jian is a member of Discipline Appraisal Team under the State Council, IEEE fellow, one of Cheung Kong Scholars recognized by the Ministry of Education, winner of Outstanding Young Investigator Award, chair professor of the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, head of Tsinghua University Modern Management Research Center (a key research center for culture and social sciences under the Ministry of Education), host of innovation research group science fund of the National Natural Science Foundation, winner of the first Fudan Management Science Outstanding Contribution Award and vice president of many international first-class societies and international academic organizations.
