This workshop was hosted by secretary general of the Society Ms. Xu Dandan. At the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by three participants, i.e., the president of the School professor Zhang Qiusheng, the president of the Society professor Fang Fuqian and director of management division of Beijing Federation of Social Sciences Zhou Zhiyong. After that, five famous economists delivered keynote speeches in succession: professor Yang Chunxue from CASS delivered a speech titled pIs there a natural boundary between SOEs and private enterprises in the field of activity?q, which claims there exists no clearly-defined boundary between SOEs and private enterprises from a perspective of combination of practice and theory and believes that their distribution is a dynamic process of evolution and the determinants of this process are very complicated, not merely in the pure sense of economics; professor Rong Chaohe delivered a speech title pOn the view of space and time of economics: starting with the myth of Smithq, in which professor Rong believes economics need to address the overreliance upon rationality and focus on the analysis from the perspective of time and space in order to resolve the Smith poser, using the conflict between economic man and social man as the entry point. Professor Bai Baoli from Beijing Normal University delivered a speech titled pConstruction of Macroeconomic System Modelq, which involves construction of a macroeconomic model based on the Marxist theory and use of this model to explain the economic fluctuation and economic cycle as well as the causes of inflation; professor Chen Yanbin from the School of Economics of Renmin University of China delivered a speech titled pIs the current slowdown a cyclic slowdown or potential slowdown?q, explaining the two possible causes of actual economic slowdown, i.e., the temporary downward deviation from the potential growth rate and the decrease of potential growth rate. After that, based on his study of the causes and current situation of economic takeoff since the opening-up and reform, he noted that the potential growth rate over the past three years indeed decreased, but not to the extent of 4%.  Professor Su Jan from the School of Economics of Beijing University delivered a speech titled pHow to Understand New Normalq, talking about the definition and origin of the new normal of Chinese economy in terms of demand and supply and accordingly identifying the new objectives and priorities of macro-control policy.

After these keynote speeches, many members of the Society gave improvised speeches, commenting on the viewpoints of four professors, before the forum concluded after a heated discussion.
