Prof. Shu-Cherng Fang from North Carolina State University kindly invited for Frontier Lecture at School of Economics and Management

On the afternoon of March 19, Prof. Shu-Cherng Fang from North Carolina State University gave his special lecture entitled pTwo Interesting Gamesq at RM. 611, East Siyuan Building, which was presided over by Prof. Zhang Juliang, Dean of Management Engineering College. Present at the lecture were Prof. Xiu Naihua ,vice dean of College of Science, Prof. Li Yisong, dean of Logistics Management Department, associate professors, including Guo Chunfang, Hua Guowei, Ding Jingzhi and Bian Wenliang, and more than 30 Ph.D candidates and postgraduates.
 
Prof. Shu-Cherng Fang, first of all, introduced the basic concepts of Game Theory with the actual life examples to facilitate all participants for the better understanding of the subsequent contents. In the whole process of the lecture, Prof. Fang introduce to all participants the latest research results of his own and co-authors in the simple and humorous language: Knapsack Problem Game and Newsboy Model Game, which represents the two basic models in the logistics sector. He has drawn the meaningful and significant conclusion by highly combining them with Game Theory to facilitate all participants to fully experience the academic significance and delight, and particularly the students can understand that the scientific research is quite simple and interesting, so his lecture has arouse the great enthusiasm of the students for their future academic research.
 
The teachers and students responded positively to the lecture given by Prof. Shu-Cherng Fang, showing great interests to it. Most importantly, the theme of this lecture has been fully discussed in the whole process. 

Prof. Shu-Cherng Fang has the higher scientific research capabilities, and thus far, he has published more than 200 papers in all kinds of journals in the world, written and published 4 academic books and he is the chair professor of Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Northeastern University, Shanghai University, National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) and National Tsing Hua University (NTHU). He is also a member of the editing committees of 24 international journals, the founding editor of Fuzzy Optimization and Decision Making, a SCI journal. At the same time, Prof. Shu-Cherng Fang has the abundant work experience and used to serve Western Electric Engineering Research Center as the senior research fellow and the supervisor of Bell Laboratory.
