Acceptance Meeting of Beijing Transportation Development Research Base

Beijing Transportation Development Research Base ushered in its Phase III acceptance at Meeting Room 8 on Building No. 9 of Beijing Conference Center (BCC) at 8:40 a.m.~9:40 a.m. on March 24, 2015. Present at the acceptance meeting were Director Wang Xiangwu and vice director Zhang Qingxi of Scientific Planning Office of Beijing Municipal Philosophy Society, director Liu Jun and Liu Fengjie of Base Management Office, Prof. Sun Baowen from Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), Prof. He Yaomin, assistant to the president of Renmin University of China (RUC), Prof. Liu Yong from Beijing Normal University, Prof. Ge Xinquan from Beijing Information Science & Technology University, director Zhao Qing and Teacher Che Qingzhen from Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Sun Shouguang, vice president of BJTU, Director Bi Ying and vice director Ye Long of Humanities and Social Sciences Department, Shi Xianliang, associate dean of School of Economics and Management, Prof. Lin Xiaoyan, responsible leader of the Base, Prof. Rong Chaohe, chief expert, Prof. Bu Wei, associate dean of Economics College of School of Economics and Management, Associate professor Li Weidong, associate dean of Economics College of School of Economics and Management, and Li Min, secretary of the Base.

Lin Xiaoyan, as the responsible leader of the Base, gave the baseline report about the base Phase III construction during 2012-2014 on behalf of Beijing Transportation Development Research Base and Prof. Rong Chaohe, chief expert, made the supplementary speech and also answered inquiries and questions raised by the participating experts.
 
The participating experts confirmed the achievements of the base Phase III Construction, reaching the consensus that the base has gained the excellent operation and the stable development for a decade with the earnest work and fruitful results. Also, they gave the valuable suggestions and expectations for the future development of the base. The suggestions proposed by the participating experts could be boiled down to the following points: firstly, strengthen the comprehensive, systemic and forward-look scientific research to demonstrate the interdisciplinary research, highlight the research orientations and focus on the major strategic issues related to the national and socioeconomic development; secondly, pay full attention to the impact of the new technology and new models on the traffic development and tap the potentials of the policy and the institutional innovation; thirdly, enhance the openness of the base and the joint efforts to overcome difficulties with the other excellent units apart from the building of the opener and younger scientific research force; fourthly, strengthen the publicity and improve the high visibility and impact of the scientific research results to build the base into a think tank as well as an international platform. 
 
Direct Wang Xiaowu expressed his concurrence with other experts, thinking that the base has obtained the fruitful results and gained the advantages in applying for being identified as Beijing Think Tank, so he also suggested that the base could be closely connected with the corresponding departments of Beijing Municipality to strengthen the cooperation and communication with Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport to bring the advantages of the base into full play and earnestly solve the actual transport problems in Beijing. The bas should try its utmost to seize all opportunities to promote the sound development of the base and further increase its impact.
 
President Sun Shouguang expressed his gratitude to all participating leaders and experts on behalf of BJTU, remarking that BJTU would take into full account the problems as to how to effectively build the base to ensure that the research work could cater to the major demands of the country and Beijing City according to the all suggestions given by all participating experts so as to provide the high-quality proposals for the transport development of Beijing City and make the greater efforts to build the base into the national new-type think tank.
 
Director Bi Ying also expressed that it was necessary to strengthen the openness of the base in a bid to build it into a think tank in the industry, Beijing City and even nationwide. Also, BJTU would formulate and issue the methods to effectively manage the scientific research platform at the provincial and commission level and guide the base construction in respect of the talent cultivation, scientific research and social service in a bid to achieve better research results and performances. 
 
This acceptance meeting is successfully concluded and it is expected that the base will gain better performances in all aspects on the strength of this acceptance.
