School of Economics and Management invites professor Ge Xinquan with School of Economics and Management of Beijing University of Information Science and Technology to deliver a subject-matter lecture

At 12:30 Pm, April 2, 2015, President of School of Economics and Management of Beijing University of Information Science and Technology professor Ge Xinquan delivered a lecture pbasics and advancement of econometricsq to teachers and students of the School of Economics and Management of BJTU. More than 30 people attended this lecture, including professor Rong Chaohe, professor Zhao Jian, professor Lin Daidai, professor Lin Xiaoyan, professor Tong Qiong and other teachers and postgraduate students. This lecture was hosted by associate professor Li Weidong, Vice President of the School of Economics and Management.  

Professor Ge summarized and recapitulated the key points of advanced mathematics, probability and mathematical statistics, fuzzy mathematics and linear algebra using an easily understandable language, summarizing statistics in terms of descriptive statistics and deductive statistics. After that, professor Ge described the concept of econometrics, five steps of applied econometrics and six key elements contained therein and modeling tools by using the real-life examples and case studies. Then, professor Ge gave a detailed and comprehensive description of economic models which represent the heart of econometrics. Last, professor Ge aired his opinions about the progress of economic models.  

Teachers and students present at this lecture showed greatest interest in the lecture by actively responding to professor Geos speech, discussing in detail with professor Ge about related issues.   

Ge Xinquan, professor, PhD in economics, beneficiary of special government allowance from the State Council, outstanding expert in Beijing, part-time doctoral tutor with Beijing Jiaotong University, President of School of Economics and Management of Beijing University of Information Science and Technology, director of game theory and experimental economics research center, director of recycling economy research center and chief expert at Beijing Philosophical and Social Science Research Center-Beijing Knowledge Management Research Center.
