Global Institute of Supplying Chains and Logistics was signed and opened in Beijing Jiaotong University

On June 17 moring, 2015, Beijing Jiaotong University and Netherlands Erasmus University Rotterdam held a cooperative signing ceremony and the Global Institute of Supplying Chains and Logistics was officially opened. The institute has School of Economic Management of Beijing Jiaotong University and School of Management of Erasmus University Rotterdam as the founding members. In future there will be other world first class institutes in the field of logistics joining in according to rules.
 
Party Secretary of our university, Cao Guoyong, attended the ceremony and unveiled nameplate of the Global Institute of Supplying Chains and Logistics. President of Rotterdam School of Management, Steef van de Velde, and Party Secretary of School of Economic Management of Beijing Jiaotong University, Zhang Mingyu signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of each university.
 
Cao Guoyong said that implementation of significant strategies such as One Belt One Road and Integration of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei will strongly push development of global supplying chains and meanwhile call for highly efficient and convenient logistic system as the supporting basis. Research on supplying chains and logistics with global view will provide intellectual support for decision making of supplying chains and logistics in new situation. Logistic management discipline of Beijing Jiaotong University is in the leading place in China and has international influence as well based on its characteristic and advantage in logistic research of railway transport. Rotterdam School of Management of Erasmus University is one of the first class business schools in world especially with leadership in the field of ocean shipping logistics. The two powerful universitieso joining together will fully take advantage of their logistic research abilities and make Global Institute of Supplying Chains and Logistics a characteristic high-level platform for scientific research as well  an important thing tank for government, industry and enterprises.
 
Global Institute of Supplying Chains and Logistics is established to be a worldos first class institute. Besides excellent scholars from Beijing Jiaotong University and Erasmus University Rotterdam, it will attract first class experts from all over the world, aiming at international research frontiers of supplying chains and logistics management, paying special attention to global supplying chain management in the context of crossing regional cooperation, supplying chains and logistics management of international large infrastructure construction, combined transport with multi styles, international logistics in the context of Chinese new normal economy, crossing boarders e-commerce, and supplying chains and logistics management issues in the environment of big data and sustainable development. It will try to make breaking through achievements, further enrich basic theory of supplying chains and logistics management and promote innovative development of theory and practice of logistics management.
 
The institute will focus on current key problems faced to logistics development around implementation of national strategy. Recently it will research on construction and optimization of transport and delivery networks of integration of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebeim, design of combined transport system with multi styles including ocean shipping, port logistics and high speed rail transportation, operation optimization and risk management, etc.
 
After the ceremony, Cao Guoyong issued appointment of honorable professor of our school to Zhang Ying, Vice President of Rotterdam School of Management.
 
Rotterdam School of Management/Erasmus Graduate School of Business is praised as European Harvard University. Based on the worldos largest port, Rotterdam Port, it ranks the first in the field of logistics research in Europe and is the best business school in Europe. The first winner of Nobel Prize in Economics, Jan Tinbergen, came from Rotterdam School of Management
 
Vice President Liu Jun and other relevant leaders and teacher from International Department and School of Economics and Management also attended the signing ceremony.
