2nd IAC Meeting was convened in our School

On October 16, 2nd International Advisory Committee (IAC) Meeting was convened at Meeting Room 611 in Sidong Building of our School. Party Secretary Cao Guoyong, Dong Hairong and Deng Xinhua, vice director of International Cooperation Exchange Department,Lv Chao, assistant to the department director, all school leaders and 8 experts from the Advisory Committee attended the meeting. Also present at the meeting were responsible persons from all relevant offices and departments and the center and all working staff in the Strategy and Certification offices.

 

At the meeting, Party Secretary Cao Guoyong delivered as welcome speech, pointing out that Internationalization represents the general development trend of the world higher education, the urgent requirement for implementing the open-up strategy in the field of the Chinese higher education as well as the inevitable course for BJTU to build itself into the world-class university with its own distinctive features. He emphasized that as one of the national 17 trial schools in the first batch, School of Economics and Management is applying for the certification of EQUIS and AACSB. The school is devoted to building a first-class business school highly geared up with the world practices, so the school must draw on the experience of the other world-famous business schools for the benefit of our school in the further development.

 

Prof. Zhang Qiusheng, Dean of our School, presented the letter of appointment to all members of International Advisory Committee and gave the full account of the working guideline and strategic plan for the school in the coming five years. The school leaders, say, Hao Shengyue, Shi Xianliang, Zhang Mingyu, Cui Yongmei and Wen Yingchun, successively made the special introduction of the development of the school projects, science and technology development, faculties development, external relation development, internal management strategic plan. All committee members warmly discussed all plans from various perspectives and also put forward pertinent comments and proposals.

 

At the meeting, Internationalization became the most heated topic discussed among all members. All members and other participants showed great interest in Chinas One Belt and One Road strategy and saw the basic role and strategic position of traffic transport and infrastructure construction in One Belt and One Road strategy, saw the accessible role played by BJTU in the specific implementation of the strategy.So they expressed that they were willing to join hands with BJTU to devote themselves to the research, teaching and industrial service of One Belt and One Road strategy to build an information network and an economic network to closely connect China with Southeast Asia, Europe and Australia.

 

In recent years, with the continuous improvement of the school-running quality and internationalization, development of business schools in China has been gaining increasingattention from the world-famous business schools. At the same time, a lot of domestic business schools also took their initiative to gear themselves up with the international standards and practices to establish first-class business schools. Ours is a highly-reputed business school with a long history in China, the secondary college of our school which set up International Advisory Committee as the earliest in China in 2013, aiming at attracting the intelligence from the world business school to build ours into the business school whichwill play a leading role in promoting the industrial development in China.

 

2nd International Advisory Committee is composed of 10 business school deans from famous universities in USA, UK, France, Italy, Australia, Hong Kongand other countries and regions, and the experts of the relevant institutions with Professor T.C. Edwin Cheng, dean of Business School of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, as the chairperson of the committee. 8 experts attended the meeting, particularly including Professor T.C. Edwin Cheng, Arnaud Langlois-Meurinne, tutor of EFMD and asset and liability management consultant, Prof. Christian Delporte, vice director of EFMD quality certification and certification director of Business School, Prof. Len-Kuo Hu, International Business Department of Taiwan's National Chengchi University, Prof. Kearney Colm, dean of Business School of Monash University(Australia), Prof. Andrea Sianesi, dean of MIP Business School of Polytechnic University of Milan,Italy, Prof. Shen Wen, foreign president of Confucius Institute of Lancaster University, Prof. Steef Van de Velde, dean of School of Management, Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
