The 2024 Economics Editor-in-Chief Face-to-Face Meeting marks the fourth such event since the inaugural conference in June 2021 and is an integral part of the "Editor-in-Chief Face-to-Face" initiative by the School of Economics and Management at Beijing Jiaotong University, which began in 2018. This year’s conference continued to uphold the university's motto of "Knowing and Doing," further advancing the ideals of academic dissemination and public service, enriching and innovating high-level academic research, exchange, and publication mechanisms on an international scale. Once again, the School of Economics and Management collaborated with the globally renowned academic publisher Elsevier, successfully inviting editors from a top-five economics journal among the ten participating editors-in-chief from seven prestigious journals. This expanded the dialogue between top journal editors and Chinese scholars and students, further stimulating domestic and international economists’ and enthusiasts’ passion for high-level academic discussions and the exchange of innovative and frontier ideas.
The continued success of the Economics Editor-in-Chief Face-to-Face Meeting, now in its fourth year, can be attributed to the School of Economics and Management at Beijing Jiaotong University's commitment to the original goals of the "Editor-in-Chief Face-to-Face" series. The organization has consistently focused on expanding the roster of invited guests, innovating the meeting mechanisms, strengthening the support for the conference, and promoting international academic exchanges. These efforts encourage the clash of cutting-edge ideas and effectively improve attendees' academic writing and submission skills. Over four years, the meeting has become a prestigious platform for academic exchange among domestic and international scholars, university faculty, students, and especially young researchers. By fostering both "bringing in" and "going out," it has contributed to the flourishing of economic research. We remain dedicated to this mission, steadily advancing and continuously providing an open, multi-faceted, and effective international discussion and exchange channel for scholars and students, particularly young researchers in China. Our goal is to support the academic research of Chinese economists in serving national prosperity and rejuvenation, and to enhance the international influence of economic disciplines and academic research in Chinese universities.
