On April 13, 2024, the School of Economics and Management at Beijing Jiaotong University held the 9th International Advisory Committee (IAC) meeting and Dean's Forum. IAC members, scholars, and deans from both China and abroad gathered at Beijing Jiaotong University to discuss the "Internationalization Strategy and Development of the School of Economics and Management in the New Era." Vice President Guan Zhongliang of Beijing Jiaotong University attended the meeting, and the entire executive commitee of the School of Economics and Management participated in the discussions.
During the IAC meeting, Vice President Guan Zhongliang delivered the welcome address, in which he presented an overview of the university's development status, disciplinary characteristics, internationalization progress, and achievements. On behalf of the university, he extended a warm welcome to all the committee members and IAC members in attendance. He emphasized the importance of strengthening exchanges among world-class business schools. The IAC members present at the meeting have outstanding achievements and experience in their respective fields. Vice President Guan expressed his hope that the IAC members would freely share their thoughts and provide valuable suggestions for the development of the School of Economics and Management.
In his address, Eric Cornuel, President of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), congratulated the School of Economics and Management on achieving the maximum five-year reaccreditation from EQUIS. He emphasized that the IAC meeting and Dean's Forum serve as crucial platforms for building networks of cooperation between Chinese and European universities and for facilitating global dialogue among business schools. He expressed his hope that the School of Economics and Management at Beijing Jiaotong University would continue to contribute to the global development of business schools and to strengthen the university's presence on the international stage.
During the meeting, Vice President Guan Zhongliang presented the honorary professor appointment to Chairman Eric Cornuel, while Secretary Li Tong of the school awarded appointment letters to new IAC members and IAC members. Dean Shi Xianliang then provided detailed reports on various aspects of the school, including its history, academic disciplines, student education and employment, scientific research, industry-university cooperation, faculty team, international collaboration, and talent policies.
During the discussion session, committee members and IAC members highly praised the achievements of the university and the School of Economics and Management. Focusing on the theme of "Internationalization Strategy and Development of Business Schools in the New Era," they explored opportunities and challenges facing the School from various perspectives such as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), digital transformation, interdisciplinary research, internationalization strategy, the Belt and Road Initiative, and educational reforms.
During the afternoon Deans Conference, Secretary Li Tong and Dean Shi Xianliang delivered welcome speeches and reports on the current state of affairs in the School. Deans from nearly twenty schools of economics and management engaged in lively discussions and deep exchanges on topics such as international exchanges, international accreditation, business education in the AI era, and the development of industry-oriented management schools.
