In March 2024, the School of Economics and Management (SEM) at Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) was honored to receive notification from the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) that SEM has successfully passed the EQUIS re-accreditation, earning a five-year accreditation at the highest standard offered by EQUIS. This milestone represents the first occasion since the initial EQUIS accreditation in 2021 that SEM has been granted the prestigious five-year accreditation. It signifies EFMD's strong endorsement of our School's substantial progress and accomplishments in the recent years.

In October 2023, the School of Economics and Management submitted its self-assessment report to the EFMD for EQUIS re-accreditation. The on-site peer-review visit for the re-accreditation took place from December 5th to 7th. During the peer-review visits, leaders from Beijing Jiaotong University, including Prof. Wang Jiaqiong, Secretary of the Party Committee, Prof. Guan Zhongliang, Vice President, and Prof. Song Fei, Director of the International Affairs Office, engaged in meaningful discussions with the peer-review panel. The panel led 15 discussions with the School's executive commitee, members of the International Advisory Committee, department heads, representatives of the faculty and student, representatives from the corporate and alumni network, undertaking a thorough and comprehensive review. They assessed various aspects such as the School's Development Objectives, External Governance, Programme Portfolio, Faculty Management, Research, Selected Programme, faculty and student, Financial Management and Resources, Connection with Practice, Internationalization, and ERS. Additionally, they conducted on-site inspections of the School's teaching facilities and learning environment. The peer-review team highly appreciated the outstanding achievements of the School in recent years and made valuable suggestions.

EQUIS accreditation, overseen by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), represents a premier global standard for management education quality. It stands as one of the most rigorous quality accreditation systems worldwide. Currently, 23 business schools in mainland China have achieved EQUIS accreditation. Together with AACSB and AMBA accreditations, EQUIS forms the trio of the most authoritative international accreditations for business schools. Securing all three accreditations simultaneously serves as a hallmark of excellence, marking entry into the world's top business schools. In 2021, the School of Economics and Management at Beijing Jiaotong University proudly attained accreditation from EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA, all of which have been awarded the maximum five-year accreditation, underscoring its commitment to excellence in business education.
