Beijing Jiaotong University School of Economics and Management and Lancaster University Management School Host Successful Series of Faculty-Student Exchange Events

On October 10, 2023, the School of Economics and Management (SEM)at Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) warmly welcomed a high-level delegation from the Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), UK. Under the guidance of Xiao Guiping, the Vice Director of the Weihai Campus Management Committee and Dean of the Weihai International School, and led by Professor David Higgitt, Academic Dean of the Lancaster University College at Beijing Jiaotong University, senior teaching representatives engaged in in-depth exchanges on academic and teaching practices with faculty and students from the School of Economics and Management. Key participants included Prof. Liu Yingqi, Head of the Department of Business Administration, and Prof. Zhang Shanshan, Head of the Accounting Department, along with many other faculty and graduate students.

 

The event centered around a series of academic and teaching discussions. The seminar “The Connection between Advertising and Market Research” was a notable session prepared by Jonathan Ivy, Head of International Teaching Partnerships and Marketing at LUMS. Furthermore, Claire Astle and Jordan Lynch, leaders of the LUMS administrative team, introduced Lancaster University’s assurance of learning systems and procedures to faculty who were set to give lectures at the Weihai Campus. During the discussion session, both parties engaged in vigorous exchanges about future cooperation, culminating in a decision to hold a joint conference next year to deepen their collaboration and communication. In the afternoon, Professor David Higgitt delivered an insightful and thought-provoking lecture on environmental protection, which the faculty and students warmly received.

 

This series of visits further deepened the friendly cooperation between the two institutions. Building on the foundation of three major collaborative projects at the Weihai Campus opened new paths for further cooperation in education, research, and other fields. The School of Economics and Management at Beijing Jiaotong University reaffirmed its commitment to deepening its ongoing collaboration with Lancaster University Management School. It looks forward to achieving more significant breakthroughs in academic exchanges and cooperation.
