School of Economics and Management and KPMG China hold a school enterprise cooperation and exchange meeting

On June 28, 2023, the School of Economics and Management at Beijing Jiaotong University held a School-Enterprise Cooperation Exchange Meeting with KPMG China in Room 611, Sidong Building. Qiu Xiaodong, Vice Dean of the College, Zhang Xinying, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee, Guo Ming, Vice Secretary and Vice Dean of the Party Committee, Chen Yuhong, Audit Partner of KPMG, and Zhang Lin, Partner of the Executive Training Center, attended and delivered speeches. The meeting was chaired by Feng Yao, Director of the Alumni Development and Foreign Cooperation Center.
Chen Yuhong, the Audit Partner of KPMG, then reviewed the eight-year history of school-enterprise cooperation between Beijing Jiaotong University and KPMG. She emphasized the various collaborative efforts, including the "KPMG Mentor Class," industry forums, alumni activities, academic and scientific research collaborations, and talent training bases. Chen Yuhong expressed KPMG's desire to strengthen and innovate cooperation with Beijing Jiaotong University, aiming for deeper communication between enterprises and academic institutions. The goal is to create a model of talent cultivation that integrates industry, academia, and research, leading the way in shaping influential talents for the nation.

Qiu Xiaodong emphasized that the symposium marks the first in-depth exchange since the signing of a contract between the school and the enterprise. He expressed the hope to expand and deepen the cooperation content, innovate cooperation forms, and collaborate on talent cultivation, teaching and research, internship practice, and other aspects. The goal is to foster industry-leading talents through industry-academia collaboration, creating a distinctive and influential demonstration project for talent cultivation in the integration of school-enterprise-industry education.

Chen Yuhong provided a retrospective of the eight-year history of school-enterprise cooperation, emphasizing the collaboration between Beijing Jiaotong University and KPMG since 2015. The cooperation has involved various initiatives, including the "KPMG Mentor Class," industry forums, alumni activities, academic and scientific research activities, and talent training bases. Chen Yuhong expressed KPMG's commitment to continuing and strengthening its collaboration with Beijing Jiaotong University. The focus is on fostering innovation in talent cultivation models and facilitating deep communication between enterprises and academic institutions.

Chen Yuhong underscored that the signing of the agreement is based on the shared consensus and vision of both the university and the enterprise. She expressed the hope that this agreement will serve as an opportunity to further enhance the cooperation between the university and the enterprise. The aim is to contribute to a virtuous cycle of high-quality employment and talent cultivation, actively participate in shaping the backbone talents required by the country, and collectively contribute to the high-quality development of both the educational institution and the enterprise.

Following this, Zhang Xinying and Guo Ming provided insights into the comprehensive talent cultivation for undergraduate and graduate students. They proposed collaboration ideas encompassing student internship practice bases, the construction of second classrooms, appointment of corporate mentors, and career planning and consulting. Their vision is to leverage the complementary advantages of university and enterprise resources, fostering a deep integration of theory and practice. The goal is to enhance students' ability to solve practical problems and explore innovative models of Chinese-style enterprise management that are both new and practical. 

From an executive training perspective, Zhang Lin highlighted the ability to offer in-depth and high-quality training, industry exchanges, and alumni forums for alumni enterprises and professors. The school and enterprise have engaged in extensive exchanges and discussions on talent cultivation, identifying areas for expanded cooperation. A consensus has been reached on collaborating in course research and development, paper topic selection and guidance, case development, and exploring practical problems. This lays a solid foundation for the subsequent substantive promotion of related work.
