On June 2, 2023, esteemed guests Yan Hexiang and Li Yuhuan, directors from China National Railway Group Co., Ltd., led a delegation that included leaders and experts from the Development and Reform Department of China Railway Group, China Railway Economic Planning and Research Institute, and China Railway Design Group Co., Ltd. to our university. The purpose was to engage in a fruitful discussion and exchange with experts from our School of Economics and Management on the comprehensive benefit evaluation of railway projects. Zhao Peng, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Beijing Jiaotong University, graced the symposium. Key figures from the School of Economics and Management, including Dean Shi Xianliang, Vice Dean Shang Xiaopu, and Professors Li Hongchang, Lin Xiaoyan, and Wu Hao from the Department of Economics, were also in attendance.

In his welcoming address, Zhao Peng expressed heartfelt gratitude to the leaders and experts from China Railway Group, providing an overview of the school's recent research endeavors in relevant fields. Dean Shi Xianliang then delved into the college's ongoing initiatives.

Yan Hexiang emphasized the profound significance of the symposium, highlighting its critical role in advancing the comprehensive benefit evaluation of railway projects. He conducted an insightful analysis of the present economic evaluation landscape for railway projects and underscored the imperative of continuous optimization in response to the requirements of the current era. Li Yuhuan followed suit, articulating specific requirements for financial analysis, economic analysis, social analysis, environmental analysis, and other facets of railway construction projects. He emphasized the pivotal importance of optimizing comprehensive evaluation methods. The attending experts delved into extensive discussions covering the nuanced methodologies of railway construction project evaluation, assessment boundaries, network benefits, and the overarching goal of fostering sustainable development through meticulous evaluation strategies.
