In a stellar academic feat, Li Yue, a distinguished faculty member in the Logistics Management Department at our college, has recently co-authored a paper that graced the digital pages of the prestigious Journal of Operations Management. This groundbreaking research, conducted in collaboration with Associate Professor Li Meng from the University of Houston in the United States and Associate Professor Zhang Yang from the University of Kent in the United Kingdom, delves into the intricate realm of operations management. The paper, intriguingly titled "Supplier Bottleneck and Information Disclosure," is accessible online at [https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/joom.1239](https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/joom.1239).

Leveraging behavioral experiments and insights from behavioral operations management theory, the paper navigates the complexities of supply chain capacity bottlenecks in the presence of asymmetric information. The experiments unveil a compelling dynamic: in a supply chain comprising a lone retailer and multiple complementary component suppliers, production capacity decisions of suppliers pivot on the market demand report values provided by the retailer. As the number of suppliers increases, their production capacity decreases, giving rise to capacity bottlenecks.

The paper constructs a vivid behavioral model encapsulating the decision-making nuances observed in the experiments. This model vividly portrays the cognitive journey of suppliers as they update their market demand based on the reported values from retailers. The research also unveils the inherent heterogeneity among different suppliers in this updating process. Intriguingly, the paper uncovers that boosting the reporting values of retailers can serve as a salve for supply chain bottlenecks, paving the way for a mutually beneficial outcome for both retailers and suppliers.

The Journal of Operations Management, the esteemed platform that hosted this cutting-edge research, stands tall as a top-tier international journal in the realm of operations management. Recognized as a UTD24, FT50, AJG (formerly ABS) 4* journal, it holds the coveted A+ category in our academic sphere, underscoring its eminence and the significance of Li Yue's remarkable contribution.
