Professor Yacan Wang was elected a member of the Executive Committee of the International Transportation Economics Association

Recently, after anonymous vote conducted by International Transportation Economics Association (ITEA), Professor Yacan Wang of SEM was nominated as member of the Executive Committee of the ITEA, becoming the first Chinese member of the ITEA Executive Committee. At the invitation of the chairman of the ITEA, Professor Yacan Wang also serves as a member of the current ITEA academic committee.

The rest of the executive committee members elected include: Professor Anming Zhang from University of British Columbia in Canada, Professor Andrew Smith from University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, Professor Sofia Franco from University of Lisbon in Portugal, Professor Ricardo Flores-Fillol from University of Vergili in Rovira, Spain, and Professor Eren Inci from Sabanci University in Turkey. The current Chairperson of ITEA is Professor Sergio Jara-Diaz from University of Chile.

The ITEA is the world's highest international academic organization for transportation economics scholars. The first annual academic conference was held in 2005. At present, the ITEA annual academic conference has become the main platform for the exchange of transportation economists around the world. The reports and papers presented at the conference gather the world's most cutting-edge transportation economics research. The ITEA Council has gathered the world’s top transportation economists, including Richard Arnott, Jan Brueckner, André de Palma, Robin Lindsey, Kenneth Small, Erik Verhoef, etc. The 2022 ITEA Annual Conference will be held at Beijing Jiaotong University.

Professor Yacan Wang has been engaged in research on urban sustainable transportation policies, behavioral economics, transportation and space-time economics, and transportation choices. She also serves as a senior associate editor of International Journal of Logistics Management, the editorial board member of Transportation research part F and Business strategy & the environment, and editor-in-chief of 7 journals including Transportation research part: D, E, F and Transport Policy. What's more, she has been invited to serve as the China Convener of COVID-19 and Transportation Task Force of the World Conference for Transportation Research (WCTR), the co-chair of the WCTR Regional Transportation Policy Task Force, the chair of the Traffic Behavior and Traffic Planning Discipline of the World Transportation Conference, and member of the Academic Committee of Research Council of Alibaba Group.
