School of Economics & Management Carried out Training for Teachers with International Summer School

In a joint effort with GSS International Summer School, SEM carried out summer training from July 8 to August 9 for teachers in charge of bilingual courses. Teachers for the training course were all from leading universities of the United States (such as U. Penn, Brown University and New York University). They gave lessons all in English. After processes of organization, mobilization, registration and selection, over 20 mid-aged and young teachers majored in economics, accounting and finance attended this training course. The training began on July 8 and lasted for 5 weeks. From Monday to Friday, a 2-hour lesson will be on in the morning or afternoon. This time of training provided valuable experiences for curriculum construction, promotion of teachers' ability, improvement of teaching quality, which further hoisted the exchanges with foreign leading universities on the aspects of course content and teacher qualities.
 
On July 19, SEM organized its own professors and experts giving lessons from GSS International Summer School to conduct the "2013 China-US Prestige School Expert Forum on Economics & Culture" at small theatre of Beijing Jiaotong University. Professors from China and the United States carried out extensive exchanges on topics at all levels of these two countries' economics and culture such as study on accounting of the United States, to speculate the aspirations of the future career, who will be benefited from the opening of free-trade zone, affects of economies in transition on environment, cross-culture teaching of the international university, and social responsibilities of corporations in China.
 
Meanwhile, SEM invited 6 teachers of the International Summer School as visiting professors who will carry out planned traning courses for mid-aged and young teachers of our school, set up courses taught in English for undergraduate students of our school and conduct research cooperation.
