In the seething July, the 20th term of EMBA program officially opened. In order to offer freshmen the chance to get familiar with each other, outward training activities lasting for one and a half day were completed under careful plan made by EMBA education center for the 20th term of EMBA students.
As a characteristic of EMBA education run by Beijing Jiaotong University, outward development brought students not only with a kind of culture, spirit and philosophy, but also with a kind of thinking, test and gumption!
Development activities include "Broken Bridge", "High Bar in the Air", "60s at Top Speed", "Crocodile Pond", "Fall Back", "Hand in Hand" and others. Students were divided into three teams. With all members actively involved, each team got its clangorous name respectively as "Clipper", "Prosperous" and "Snow Wolf", inspiring slogan, encouraging team song and team flag with special meaning and full of imagination. In the game of "Crocodile Pond", everybody realized that consistent objective held by opponents was not to compete but to achieve a win-win result through cooperation. In games of "High Bar in the Air" and "Broken Bridge", each member offered all teammates with courage and strength before the game, so that everyone could have the courage to try, to challenge themselves and overcome oneself. The game of "Hand in Hand" made everyone know how to communicate in a more active and timely manner and learn to trust their partners. Through the game of "60s at Top Speed", each team member understood that showing respect to rules, division of labor and well-defined tactics was important for a team. It is worth mentioning that, participants of "60s at Top Speed" broke the record held by "Canon China" for a long time.
During the whole process of outward development, participants experienced a lot of mental and physical challenges, achieved self-breaking, changed their former mode of thinking, set up the confidence and determination daring to meet challenges and chasten their will power. Development activities helped participants establish the consciousness of holistic approach, build up the organizing atmosphere which is active and coordinative and set up the team spirit. First-hand experience and tender guidance by the coach accelerated the integration and digestion for theory and practice, which will guide students' study and work in a better way and actually lie the learning within the activities.
EMBA program of our school always adhered to the guiding ideology of "pragmatism, innovation, mastery, parallel development of quality and scale, harmonious advancement of brand and benefits", gradually built up a practice-based foundation for the entire education system, placed emphasis for self-reflection of students on strategy, organization and selfhood, and continued to expand international perspective of the students.
