Seminar for Beijing - Tianjin - Hebei Traffic Integration held in our School

With a view to earnestly implementing the essentials of the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi concerning the development of Beijing - Tianjin - Hebei Traffic integration, acceleration of the building of the fast, swift, efficient, safe, large-capacity and low-cost integrated transport network to promote the building and development of Beijing - Tianjin - Hebei Traffic Integration, Beijing Transportation Development Research Base sponsored Seminar under the theme of “Beijing - Tianjin - Hebei Traffic Integration” at Meeting Room 611 of School of Economics and Management on the afternoon of March 27, 2014. Present at the seminar were vice director Zhang Qingxi from Beijing Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science, director Zhao Xiaowei from Propaganda Department, vice director Liu Jun from Base Management Department, Researcher and deputy director Wang Ming from Institute of Comprehensive Transportation of National Development and Reform Commission, researcher Jin Fengjun from IGSNRR and researcher Li Qunren from China Academy of Railway Sciences, Prof. and vice director Ye Long from Science and Technology Department of our school, Prof. and Party Secretary Zhang Mingyu from School of Economics and Management, Prof. and chief expert of the Research Base Rong Chaohe, and other professors, say, Lin Xiaoyan, Wu Jianhong, Feng Hua and Li Xuemei, etc. The seminar was presided over by Prof. and deputy executive director Zhang Meiqing from Beijing Transportation Development Research Base. Party Secretary Zhang Mingyu delivered the opening speech and deputy director Zhang Qingxi made the important speech on behalf of the Beijing Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science. 

The experts and scholars conducted the heated discussion over the problem as to “Beijing - Tianjin - Hebei Traffic Integration”. Deputy director Wang Ming presented his opinions for the academic exchange involving the problems related to the traffic features, traffic integration in the specific area, the regional traffic functions, structures and planning against the development strategic background of Beijing - Tianjin - Hebei Traffic integration; Li Qunren gave his own ideas about the problem related to the planning for the Beijing - Tianjin - Hebei Railway Integration; Researcher Jin Fengjun aired the viewpoints about the current problems related to Beijing - Tianjin - Hebei Traffic integration and the future development.

Prof. and chief expert of the Research Base Rong Chaohe thinks that the development of Beijing - Tianjin - Hebei Traffic Integration should be clearly differentiated from the other two problems, respectively “Business Co-urbanization” and “Commuting Co-urbanization”, and these problems should be solved in the development order of the Metropolitan Area and urban cluster. At the same time, the professor suggested that it was necessary to accelerate the pace for construction and development in respect of TOD development model and the investment and financing mechanism; Prof. Lin Xiaoyan thinks that the traffic demands is a derivative demand and we should pay attention to the overall functions and the distribution functions of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei to conduct the discussion of the traffic problems; Prof. Wu Jianhong thinks that in consideration of the problem related to Beijing - Tianjin - Hebei Traffic Integration, it is better to give full scope to the functions of the state-owned railway in the urban cluster to facilitate it to play a more important role in the urban traffic and urban cluster; Prof. Feng Hua proposes that agglomeration effect is larger than diffusion effect and the traffic integration is the leading field; Prof. Li Xuemei thinks that it is imperative to pay more attention to the planning development for the urban complexes and the construction of the traffic hubs in terms of the traffic integration; at last, Zhang Meiqing gave the summary speech and expressed that the base would focus on “Beijing - Tianjin - Hebei Traffic integration” as the key research orientation and positively organize the relevant persons for the corresponding research to contribute the favorable proposals and advice to the relevant government authorities to make the scientific decisions and give full scope to the role of the research base’s think tank.
